Lumberjack Rescue

Surely saving just one dog won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one dog.

Recently we had the opportunity to do something that truly matters. In our hometown of springhill, la there is a group of people who are trying to make a difference in the lives of so many animals. The Lumberjack Rescue takes in unwanted and stray animals and finds them good, loving homes. They do all they can for the dogs from vet visits and all medication to even nursing them back to health (some are in rough shape when they come in).  When they called about us taking pictures of the dogs we were ecstatic. It’s not often that we get to use something we’re good at to make a difference. We absolutely wanted to do this. During the shoot  all the dogs were so sweet, with lots of character. Some were so excited and just wanted attention others were happy just sitting next us. (my favorite was the gentle giant, Beethoven) There were so many good dogs here that deserve good homes. If you’re looking for a new animal, please adopt!

The Jerdens

Garrett Cole Jerden is the product of two amazing people!  His daddy, Josh, has recently left on his 3rd deployment and his mommy, Lauren, is an extremely strong woman in spite of all she’s going through.  They are such a cute little family!  Josh had to leave very soon after we had the session and I’m so glad I get to provide these photos for Garrett, Lauren, and the rest of the family to have while he’s away.  This session wasn’t all as fun and sweet as it looks.  There were plenty of kicks, whines, and head butts (the baby was hot, you guys!) but in the end we captured some real smiles and sweet moments!  I’m super excited to take more family photos when Josh gets home!

Sunrise

Sometimes, I have these ideas that require weeks or months or planning to make them come together.  This wasn’t one of those times.  I was driving to school in early April, a drive that I made at least four times a week, every week.  On this particular day, I had to pull the car over, get out, and snap a photo.  The scenery was breathtaking!  The fog rising from the field produced this creamy light and beautiful, warm colors.  I was inspired!  As I am no landscape photographer, I decided right then that I would have to put models to it.  I knew exactly which ones to use, beautiful sisters Ashley and Alex Nygaard.  The girls were happy to help (as always) and with huge help and input from Ashley we were ready to make it happen. We had a plan to shoot in the back of a park in Shreveport, LA.  It was our only plan.  When we arrived at the park at around 5:45 am– the park was closed.  We had no idea what to do besides go around the gate and walk to our destination, almost a mile away.  The walk wasn’t all that bad.  As soon as we made it to the location we started shooting and the girls rocked it!  It was amazing!  I have never woken up at 4am for a shoot before this, but boy was it worth it!  These photographs are, hands down, some of my favorites to date.  The models were stunning.  The warm, misty backdrop was gorgeous.  It was everything I had imagined.

I loved being a part of this shoot! As usual, Emily and Andrew made it so much fun! We continued to talk about how amazing it was to mix work and play. This was certainly one of the most enjoyable shoots to date! The best photographers in North Louisiana by far!

I was wondering if you did wedding photography and how much you charge? My wedding is coming up way too soon and we’ve had some misfortune. My fiancé’s dad became very very ill and we’ve had to move our wedding forward a year, which means that everything we had set is now gone and it’s a mad dash to try and get things going for september 22. If you could please get back to me ASAP, I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you and your pictures are AMAZING!
